(I told Esper and it was a huge big blowout and Carrie showed up and it was BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD and now I’m the biggest asshole ever :D)
Carebear: mesper: chasethepeacock: “Carrie,” he whispers, finally speaking. He...
“Shh,” he cooes, bringing them outside to the fri t stoop so the twins don’t wake up and/or Esper hears. Once their out, he takes her hands and holds them close to his chest. “I am so sorry for this…”
“It’s fine. I love you,” she kisses his softly and plasters on a false smile when they pull away, “Everything will be okay. It’ll get better.”
“It will.” He nods and laces their fingers, hauls a cab, and brings them back to his apartment. Carrie is so drained that she immediately falls asleep in his arms, with Chase ready to face any obstacle to cone their way…
Carebear: mesper: chasethepeacock: “Carrie,” he whispers, finally speaking. He...
”Why don’t you ask Chase what the alternative is?” His eyes flash with anger. “These rules are in place because I don’t want to see his face. Most of them have to do with keeping him away from us. Fine, you can stay at his house whenever but everything else stays. I’m done talking about this, I want him out of my house. I have to go check on your brother and sister.” Michael gives Chase one last look before turning to look at Carrie, disappointment in his eyes. He shakes his head and then turns and heads up the stairs.
She balls her hands into fists and watches him go, wanting to scream out in frustration. She turns her back and kicks the couch hard, needing to release all the anger in her somehow.
“Carrie!” he whispers, standing up from his chair and pulling her away from anything kickable. He holds onto her tightly for a moment, pressing his lips to The top of her head. “I’m so sorry baby, but I should go…” He gathers her face in his hands and kisses her softly. “If you want to come, I’m perfectly fine with that, but if you want to stay here, I’m fine with that too. It’s all about what you need right now.”
“I don’t know. I hate this!” She flails helplessly against his grasp, crying softly and burying her face in his shoulder.
“Shh,” he cooes, bringing them outside to the fri t stoop so the twins don’t wake up and/or Esper hears. Once their out, he takes her hands and holds them close to his chest. “I am so sorry for this…”

“Carrie,” he whispers, finally speaking. He places his hand on her wrist gently, saying, “It’s okay, Michael. I know you hate me and will never trust me, and honestly, I don’t care. I love your daughter and she means more than anything else to me. I know that I’m…
He nods his head at Esper’s rules, ignoring how unfair they are and deciding to let Carrie have the main say in this, seeing as it was her father and he was the cheating asshole.
She ignores Chase for a moment, focusing on standing her ground, “Look, you both are the most important men in my life. I love the both of you so much it’s ridiculous. And I don’t want you at odds with each other. So…can we please try to put this all behind us? I want to be able to have Chase over for dinner and-and…I’m sick of having to choose between my family and my boyfriend.” She glances at Chase, saying ‘I love you’ with her eyes, then back at her father with wide, pleading eyes.
Chase knows that, at this point, it’s best for him to sit back and let the father and daughter talk this out, and only speak up when he was needed. When it comes to this, he’s a bumbling idiot, but at least he knew this much. He looks at Michael intently, waiting for a response.
He had his mind made up, he wasn’t going to support this, but as he looked into Carrie’s eyes he knew he wouldn’t be able to just kick her out of his life completely. But he also knew he couldn’t stand the site of Chase either and that he would most likely break his nose again before he could sit down to dinner with him. “I’m sorry, baby girl….I can’t do that. The sight of him just makes me so angry and I don’t know how well I’ll be able to control myself when he’s around.” He looks up at Chase, sneering at the younger boy. “I will never trust him with you again.”
“Dad, please,” She sighs, taking a closer step towards him, “Do you really think he would be here trying to patch things up if he didn’t really care about me? You broke his nose last time and he’s here…” She starts to say more, but closes her mouth and lowers her head. She knew how stubborn her father was and suddenly felt like it was no use convincing him to not hate Chase.
“Carrie,” he whispers, finally speaking. He places his hand on her wrist gently, saying, “It’s okay, Michael. I know you hate me and will never trust me, and honestly, I don’t care. I love your daughter and she means more than anything else to me. I know that I’m a selfish prick, but it took losing her for me to realize just how much she means to me.”

Before he could even consider how to respond to Michael, he hears the oh-so-familiar voice behind him. He whips his head in her direction, murmuring, “Carrie…” with true concern. His eyes went from Carrie to her father and back to Carrie again.
His eyes narrow at his daughter, his arms once again crossing over his chest as they bore into her, sarcasm dripping from his voice. “Hey, Carebear. Guess what I found out today? Hint: Your boyfriend told me.” His facial features soften, the lines around his eyes making him look tired and worn out. “I can’t believe you, after everything he did to you and you just…you just go back to him?”
She flinches at the use of her nickname, but tries to keep her emotions from getting the best of her, “I was literally about to tell you now but…,” She looks down at Chase then back at her father, “I don’t…I don’t know what to say. I know that he hurt me. I didn’t just forget about what he did. It still haunts me everyday. But I love him too much to let him slip away…I’m sorry.”
Chase looks at Carrie, love in his eyes, and doesn’t even take his eyes off her to look back at Michael. Her words froze him. When he finally was able to speak, he whispered, “I love you, too,” He looked back at her father, saying strongly, loudly, in almost an announcement: “I love her, whether or not you want me to.”
“You are actually threatening to take everything away from her for loving me?” Chase shook his head, disgusted by Michael’s smile. “If you think that means that I’ll just leave her because of your threats, I won’t. She can live with me, I can help her pay for school. I love your daughter, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.”
”And what happens when you cheat on her again, Chase? What will she have then?” Michael hadn’t meant to raise his voice and he stops the yelling as he slowly reaches for the baby monitor in his back pocket, praying that the twins hadn’t woken up. He’s a lot calmer as he starts to speak again, shaking his head once more but no longer smiling. “I watched her…..after you slept with Theo, I sat and watched her become a shell of who she was. I held her as she cried, I watched stupid movies with her to cheer her up, hell I started a bonfire on the damn roof just to see her smile again. I’m sorry, but I can’t support this happening. I will not stand by and watch as she gets crushed again because once a cheater, always a cheater. If she chooses to stay with you, than so be it. I don’t want to lose her but like I said, I won’t support this.”
Carrie gathers her things and leaves Chase’s, a lot weighing on her mind. She thought a lot about her relationship with Chase and the lies she told her parents as she walked home and decided that, though she was terrified of confrontation, it needed to end. She had to start acting like an adult and facing her fears. She takes a deep breath and pokes her chest out when she opens the door to her home, letting out a slight timid greeting as she walks through the foyer. Her jaw drops to the floor when she sees her father and her boyfriend sitting in the living room with tension you could cut with a knife. “Shit,” she mutters under her breath.
Before he could even consider how to respond to Michael, he hears the oh-so-familiar voice behind him. He whips his head in her direction, murmuring, “Carrie…” with true concern. His eyes went from Carrie to her father and back to Carrie again.
